Serves: 6-8
There’s nothing quite like a classic trifle to bring a touch of indulgence to the table — and with Sheridan’s Coffee Layered Liqueur in the mix, this dessert takes on a whole new level of sophistication. Our Sheridan’s Trifle layers coffee-soaked sponge, creamy custard, Sheridan’s whipped cream, and a drizzle of chocolate for a dessert that’s as beautiful to serve as it is delicious to eat.
A show-stopping centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table and indulgence that belongs on the Christmas dessert spread.
Ingredients
200ml Sheridan’s Coffee Layered Liqueur
1 sponge cake or 8 sponge fingers (ladyfingers), broken into pieces
300ml strong coffee, cooled
500ml custard (homemade or store-bought)
300ml double cream
2 tbsp sugar (optional, for sweetening cream)
Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder, for garnish
Fresh berries (optional, for topping)
Method
Place sponge pieces into the base of a large trifle dish.
Pour the cooled coffee and 100ml of Sheridan’s evenly over the sponge, allowing it to soak through.
Spread the custard evenly on top of the soaked sponge layer.
Whip the cream with sugar (if using) until soft peaks form. Fold in 50ml Sheridan’s for added flavour.
Spread the Sheridan’s whipped cream over the custard layer.
Drizzle the remaining Sheridan’s lightly over the top and finish with chocolate shavings or cocoa powder.
Chill for at least 1–2 hours before serving, to allow the flavours to meld.
